Academic Work

Although I grew up in the USA, my interest in global health began when I was very young. Through my travels, I started to gain first-hand exposure to the massive challenges to health care in various developing countries. Global health became even more personal when lost a close friend to a very treatable condition while running my non-profit organization in Southern India. I have since made it a career goal to never turn a blind eye to problems in global health.
As part of this mission, I completed an MBA at the University of Cambridge with a concentration in healthcare strategy and social innovation. I have a passion for orthopedics, systems innovation, and access to healthcare in underserved populations on both a domestic and global scale. During college, I spent several years abroad working in various medical and educational settings including the founding of my non-profit organization in Visakhapatnam, India. After college, I moved full time to India to expand and scale the NGO. I lost a close friend during my time there which only made the health disparity become even more real. As a result, I decided to apply to medical school. I was blessed to be accepted at Yale School of Medicine and have since been focused on addressing disparities in medicine including abuse of Paralympic athletes, barriers to HIV treatment in high-risk populations, and expanding access to orthopaedic care to low-resource populations. In this role, I have had the opportunity to spearhead several projects in Ghana, Haiti, Colombia, Ukraine, and Guatemala.

My desire to better understand these disparities and create space for the underserved has underpinned my desire for academic research. I owe so much to my incredible mentors who have given their time and energies to train me and teach me the importance of quality and equitable research. It has become a passion of mine that I truly enjoy due to their mentorship and encouragement. They are true heroes in my eyes.
Here is a list of the projects I have had the opportunity to take part in. I am happy to answer any questions about project design, how to get involved in research, choosing mentors, or however I can helpful. Always feel free to reach out. If you are interested in any of the projects below, you can find many of the articles listed at: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/ or Google Scholar.
